Adoptable Dogs: Santa Barbara Humane Society

This week I wanted to bring attention to the amazing Santa Barbara Humane Society; Given the recent floods and fires that have been happening in that area, it’s important to show some love to organizations like the Humane Society who are 100% dedicated to making sure every cat and dog is safe!

Since 1887(!), they have provided service to the people and animal populations of Santa Barbara County.  The Humane Society occupies a five-acre site on Overpass Road, serving the community with a shelter, animal adoption services, a spay and neuter clinic, humane education center, boarding kennels, large animal holding center and corral, and inspection and rescue services!  The below five love bugs are just a few of the dogs they have ready to find their forever home <3

By the way, if you’re not in the Santa Barbara area, make sure to read my other posts featuring dogs you can adopt HERE.

Yogi (adult, male, small)

Yogi would love to find a home where he can express his affectionate nature and go on the occasional walk! Interested in learning more? The best thing to do is visit this doggy between 10am and 4:30pm Monday through Saturday! If you can’t come and personally introduce yourself to the dog, go ahead and contact us at 805-964-4777 between 10 am and 5 pm Monday – Saturday, or email us at erica@sbhumanesociety.org.
Spots (young, male, small)
Spots is laid-back and easy, not needing too much activity. Interested in learning more? The best thing to do is visit this doggy between 10am and 4:30pm Monday through Saturday! If you can’t come and personally introduce yourself to the dog, go ahead and contact us at 805-964-4777 between 10 am and 5 pm Monday – Saturday or email us at erica@sbhumanesociety.org.
Kodak (young, male, medium)
Every moment is a Kodak moment with Mr. Kodak! Kodak is a nice, friendly dog. He is super young, so naturally he is very playful and excited about anything new! As a baby, he will need an owner who is committed to providing training and lots of exercise because that’s what all athletic, young dogs need. If you are looking for a dog with a full lifetime of hikes and beach play-dates ahead of him, Kodak is a great choice! Interested in learning more? The best thing to do is visit this dog between 10am and 4:30pm Monday through Saturday! If you can’t come and personally introduce yourself to the dog, go ahead and contact us at 805-964-4777 between 10 am and 5 pm Monday – Saturday or email us at erica@sbhumanesociety.org.
Sylvester (and Rhonda!) (adult, male, medium)
Sylvester and his best buddy Rhonda are the final two dogs for adoption that were rescued from a hoarding situation last fall. These two share such a special bond that we would love to see them find a home together and their adoption fee is therefore two for one. Their favorite part of the day is our doggie playgroups where they get to romp around with the others, but it’s clear that they are each others’ favorite play buddies. After a good run around the yard we usually find them passed out contentedly sleeping with their heads rested on top of one another in the sun. Rhonda is the more confident of the two, but you’ll see in the attached video that Sylvester (or Silly, as we like to call him) loves to give kisses to his favorite people!  We would love to show this special pair to you. If you are interested, the best thing to do is visit Rhonda and Sylvester between 10am and 4:30pm Monday through Saturday! If you can’t come and introduce yourself to the pair, go ahead and contact us at 805-964-4777 between 10 am and 5 pm Monday – Saturday or email us at erica@sbhumanesociety.org.
Lucy (adult, female, large)
Lucy would love to show you her tricks! She knows sit, shake, and down and is a fun energetic girl who is looking for a best friend to have fun with. She loves everyone she meets and while she has some doggie friends here and has lived with another dog in her last home we think she will do best as the only dog in her new home. Lucy’s been patiently waiting with us for a home here longer than any other dog and her adoption fee is therefore waived. To chat more or arrange a time to meet Lucy, please call us at 805-964-4777 or email us at erica@sbhumanesociety.org. You may also contact us about her at 805-500-3284 or michelle@sbhumanesociety.org.
