Kat Asks: Tastemaker, Cosmia Kinsey | KatherineSchwarzenegger.com

1. How would you describe your “taste”?
Chic and elegant

2. Where do you get your “taste” from?
Growing up between Switzerland and London and travelling a lot has allowed me to take a piece of style from everywhere.

3. What is your most recent obsession?
Dark ‘n’ Stormies and anything from Jacquie Aiche.

4. What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to taste/style?
Trying too hard! Keep everything natural – Less is more!

5. Can you be taught “taste”?
Not really, I think its something that comes from within and what you’ve been exposed to growing up has a big influence.

6. What is really bad taste?
Mixing too many colours, shapes and styles – it then becomes messy and taste-less

7. Can you have good taste on a budget? How?
Absolutely! Finding simple little things and piecing them together is very chic (and clever!)

8. What is the one thing every girl/woman should own in life?
A nude heel and a classic handbag. You can never go wrong if you start there.

9. What is your favorite quote or motto?
“Everything happens for a reason”

10. What are 3 things people don’t know about you?
1) I wanted to become a ballet dancer
2) I’d love to expand an orphanage I support in Uganda
3) I’m actually quite shy – too many people and I hide away!!

11. Any advice for aspiring tastemakers in your field?
When picking pieces for your home, don’t just follow the latest trend or choose something because everyone is raving about it, find something that really speaks to you that is personal. And better to choose something timeless that you can move from home to home… those things are always the best purchases!

12. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Living in my beautiful home, which I’ve designed and decorated. And where? Who knows… I’m not even sure where I’ll be in 2 weeks!

13. Which living person do you most admire?
My mother. The most beautiful, talented and happy person I know.

14. What is your biggest challenge with your profession and how do you overcome it?
Not giving a shit! The moment you become self-conscious in front of the camera, everything you’ve prepared goes straight out the window.

15. What does “being creative” mean to you?
Taking what you have and pushing it further – striving to do something bigger with it!

16. What is one thing (a brand, product, website, store, etc) that best represents your personal taste?
Oooo I have too many! Chloe, Isabel Marant, the home ware department in Anthropologie and Mizensir or Diptyque candles

17. What is your most recent purchase?
Isabel Marant heels and a cashmere sweater

18. What are 5 things you can’t live without?
1) My family
2) A watch chain given to me at my christening which I never take off!
3) Candles
4) La Perla underwear
5) My credit card!

19. What is the style of your home?
Cozy, Romantic and Chic

20. When did you become interested in interior design?
My entire life I’ve loved it! From day 1 I’ve always cut out clippings from magazines or taken pictures of beautiful homes, a sofa, a driveway or a table.

21. What do you love most about interior design?
I think I mostly adore the satisfaction of starting from scratch then creating something beautiful and personal. A house says so much about its owner.

22. What do you hope to do with your passion?
To work for an interior design company in my spare time and eventually after having a family of my own, starting my own interior design company.

23. Who influences your taste with interior design?
No one specific. It’ll always be the small things that get me excited, like a coffee cup or a particular marble or bathroom wallpaper.
