5 Books To Help You Become Your Best Self

Today being National Book Lover’s Day and all, I wanted to open up a convo about some of my favorite self-improvement books!  I really believe that we as humans are always a work in progress, and I love reading about new techniques and perspectives on how to be/become your best self and also learn to let go a little bit easier.  Tell me, what are some of your favorite self-improvement reads? Comment and let me know!

Speaking of books- if you didn’t already see the news, my new book, Maverick and Me, is available for pre-order! :)

The Miracle Morning: People who read this book absolutely LOVE the author’s method.  Sydne Summer recently blogged about how she’s starting the daily process, which essentially consists of the ‘best practices,” developed over centuries of human consciousness development, and condensed into a daily morning ritual.  The book talks about energy, motivation and focus, something literally everyone needs more of!

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: This author, Mark Manson, tells it like it is in this self-help guide.  Manson doesn’t sugarcoat anything, and that’s a good thing when it comes to personal growth, in my opinion.  Manson makes the argument that improving our lives hinges not on our ability to turn lemons into lemonade, but on learning to stomach lemons better.  “There are only so many things we can give a f**k about so we need to figure out which ones really matter,” Manson makes clear. “While money is nice, caring about what you do with your life is better, because true wealth is about experience.”

May Cause Miracles: Gabby Bernstein has sold many New York Times best-sellers, and for good reason.  Her books are all about simple, consistent shifts in thinking and actions that can lead to “every day miracles,” and I love this 40-day guidebook that actually maps out everything you need to do to completely change your perspective and life.

The Secret: The Secret has been a best-seller for over a decade and, I have to say, I was a little skeptical at first, but after giving this book a real chance I definitely think it has some great tricks and advice.  The Secret contains wisdom from modern-day teachers—men and women who have used it to achieve health, wealth, and happiness.  You’ll begin to understand the hidden, untapped power that’s within you, and this revelation can bring joy to every aspect of your life.

You Are a Badass: Jen Sincero, author and success coach, is another straight-shooter and I really connected to her tone and advice.  You Are a Badass will help you identify and change the self-sabotaging beliefs and behaviors that stop you from getting what you want, blast past your fears so you can take big exciting risks, figure out how to make money already, learn to love yourself and others, set big goals and reach them – it will basically show you how to create a life you totally love, and how to create it NOW.

  1. Hi Katherine, I just stumbled upon your blog and I already love it. I’ve read 3 out of 5 of these books and I just ordered the miracle morning on audible and will start listening tomorrow.

Reading gives me my greatest motivation and I can be found reading and listening to a few different books simultaneously.

    Thanks for the post!
