Adoptable Dogs from Mighty Mutts

Mighty Mutts is yet another organization that needs to be talked about. I absolutely love the all-volunteer, no-kill organization, dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating the strays of New York City (both dogs and cats!). Each day, thousands of stray dogs and cats are forced to live in on the streets of New York City and it makes me so happy that such a wonderful organization like Mighty Mutts is dedicated to helping them all find homes.  Here are just five of the adoptable dogs you can give a forever home to, via Mighty Mutts…

If you’re interested in any of these angels, you can fill out the adoption form here. And, if adoption isn’t feasible for you right now, you can also sponsor these dogs with monthly donations!

By the way, make sure to also check out the other adoptable dogs that I’ve featured.

Hunney (female, pitbull mix)

Spayed | Up to date with routine shots

Good with: some dogs

Best in a home without: kids and cats

Housebroken

Hunney’s life was pretty mixed up until a Mighty Mutts volunteer saved her from a New York City shelter. She was abandoned and shuffled so much that she became trapped in her own fear. Hunney has been spending time in Vermont working on her confidence and learning to trust. She is now ready for her forever home. Hunney loves it outside of the city so much that we would like to keep her home in a rural environment.

Blackjack (male, hound mix)

Neutered | Up to date with routine shots

Good with: some dogs

Best in a home without: kids and cats

Housebroken

BlackJack is new to New York City! At around eight years old, he’s a shining personality recently rescued from a high kill shelter and desperate for some attention. If you love to cuddle, BlackJack is your special guy. Because of his past, BlackJack needs to be in a home where he can be secure as the only pet. Can that be with you?

Buddha (male, Shiba Inu)

Neutered | Up to date with routine shots

Good with: some dogs

Best in a home without: N/A

Housebroken

Buddha is a seven year Shiba inu who is brand new to the sights and sounds of Manhattan. Each week Buddha attends an adoption drive, he discovers one more new thing and becomes less and less scared. Buddha was a house dog, and as such is incredibly well trained in basic obedience and leash walking. He loves squeaky toys, but his very favorite things to play with are stuffed animals–he loves to carry them around in his mouth and shower them with attention. He hopes to find a new forever family that will shower him with the same attention he shows his “babies,” while also helping him to see at least one new thing about the city each day.

Buddha is an escape artist who is exceptionally talented at freeing himself from his crate. He would prefer a family that is experienced in dealing with a magician dog of his caliber, and/or someone works from home or can be with him to hang out for the majority of the day.

Jazzy (female, pitbull puppy mix)

Spayed | Up to date with routine shots

Good with: some dogs

Best in a home without: kids and cats

Not housebroken

Jazzy is a ten month old pitbull mix recently rescued off the street of NYC. Jazzy is adorable girl who loves to sit in her human friends’ laps, and she is working very hard to learn everything she needs to know to be a great dog. Her ideal forever family is one that can balance giving her exercise to burn off all of her puppy energy with cuddle time and basic training. Jazzy will need some help with housebreaking as she has never had anyone to teach her before. For a puppy, she walks very well on leash, but she will look to you for guidance in negotiating the sights and sounds of the city.

Jazzy is a special, sensitive girl who needs some help with sharing; she is looking for an experienced owner who can help reinforce her training and good behavior. Her life didn’t start out so great, but she is filled with optimism the more new things she is introduced to. She promises to continue working on her puppy training if you promise to consider letting her into your heart!

Zoe (female, terrier mix)

Spayed | Up to date with routine shots

Good with: some dogs

Best in a home without: kids

Not housebroken

Terrier mix Zoe is a fantastic combination of lapdog and spunky puppy. She might be three plus years old, but she plays like a much younger girl! Her favorite games are “chase the squeaky toy” and “jump and pounce on the blowing leaves.” Zoe needs a family that can help her corral her energy into learning; she needs someone patient who will continue working with her on her obedience skills and her housebreaking training. Zoe is a great walker on leash and loves to be outside. She loves to meet other people, but she can be selective about her dog friends–she needs them to be just right!
