Adoptable Dogs of the Week: Love Leo Rescue

For this week’s Adoptable Dog of the Week feature, I’m so excited to feature just a few of the adoptable dogs currently available at Love Leo Rescue, an organization I whole-heartedly support!

Don’t forget to also check out last week’s adoptable dogs from Susie’s Senior Dogs :)

Sadie, 2 months old

Sadie is in adorable, seven week old pitbull puppy that was found abandoned in a car wash along with her sister. When they made their way to lovely a rescue, they were infested with fleas and ticks, they were underweight and scared. In the two weeks since they’ve been in their foster home, they have blossomed. Saffron is now a happy, goofy puppy who is looking for the perfect forever home.  For information on making her part of your family:

Cardamom, 2 months old

Meet Cardamom  She and her sister Saffron are known as the Spice Girls.  They were abandoned at a car wash in Kern county.  They were covered with fleas and ticks, they were emaciated, hot and tired.  Luckily someone brought them to a local shelter and from their they found their way to us.  In the two weeks the shelter has had them, they have transformed. They are now confident, happy puppies who sleep in a soft bed and eat nutritious food.  An application, homecheck, adoption fee and contract are required.  We prefer adopters with large breed dog experience.  The Spice girls are about 2 months old now and are pitbull mixes.  We guess they will be 50-60 lbs at maturity.  For more information please email:

Sadie, 2 years old

Meet Sadie Lady.  Sadie was rescued her several months ago.  She was found on a cold night in an empty yard in Compton.  She was nursing 8 newborn puppies.  It was clear her life had been pretty rough.  She was terrified of people.  It took many months in a loving foster home but she has started to blossom.  She no longer runs from people and enjoys cuddling with the dogs and humans in her foster home.

All her puppies have been adopted and now its Sadie’s turn. We think Sadie Lady is a cocker spaniel mix.  We guess she is about 2 years old.  She has made great progress but still will need to go into a quiet, loving home that “gets her.” She’s very playful and really loves her canine companions and needs to go in a home with at least one other dog. For more info on Sadie, please email

Zion, puppy

Meet Zion.  She is one of their “National Park” puppies.  She was brought to the shelter in a cardboard box along with her five siblings.   They were old one week old at the time and needed a rescue by the end of the day because the shelter does not have the staff to bottle feed such young puppies.  Luckily their bottle feeder extraordinaire was available and raced down to the shelter to get them.  That was five weeks ago.  They are now happy, playful puppies and will be ready for their forever homes in towards the middle of August.  Their best guess is they are poodle mixes and will stay o the smaller size – probably under 25 lbs.  An application, homecheck, adoption fee and contract are required.  For more information please email:

Deedee, 4 months old

Meet Deedee (puppy on the right). She’s a 4 month old lab mix who we saved from a rural shelter in Kern County. When the shelter got her she was dirty and covered in ticks.  Now she has been spayed, chipped and up to date on shots. She is an intelligent and sensitive dog who is eager to learn and please her people.  She loves other dogs and is a typical, happy go lucky lab. She is crate trained, leash trained and getting house trained.  We expect DeeDee will grow to be around 50-60 lbs at maturity.  For more information on adding her to your family please email us:

Cherry, 1 year old

Meet Cherry. She is a very sweet, one-year-old poodle mix who was rescued from the San Bernardino shelter. She was surrounded by her former family because she had a double cherry eye and they did not want to be bothered getting her the appropriate surgery. Love Leo rescue paid for her surgery and she’s recovering very well. Cherry is a quiet, polite little girl who loves going for walks and is fully house trained. She does well with other dogs and is not at all distracted in the house.  She is spayed, chipped, and up-to-date on shots. For more information on adopting her please email:
